FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I Really Need Professional Christian Support? Can't I Just Pray About It or Talk to My Pastor?
Great questions—and the answer is yes to both! Prayer is powerful, and your pastor or a trusted spiritual leader is a wonderful resource. But sometimes, life’s struggles can feel overwhelming, and we need more support. Even as believers, we can experience seasons where it feels almost impossible to press forward.
Think about Jesus—He often sought solitude in prayer, but He also surrounded Himself with people who encouraged, supported, and walked alongside Him. While your pastor and spiritual leaders can be amazing sources of wisdom, they often have many responsibilities and may not always have the time or specialized training needed for deeper, ongoing support. That’s where Biblical Counseling comes in. Many pastors actually recommend Biblical Counseling for situations that require more time, confidentiality, or expertise.
So where should you start?
Pray first—God is our ultimate source of strength.
Seek spiritual guidance—if your pastor or spiritual leader is available and equipped to help, that’s a great next step.
Consider Biblical Counseling—for deeper healing, guidance, and practical support when the road ahead feels unclear.
You don’t have to walk this journey alone. God provides many ways to receive the help we need!
What About Medication? Does Using It Show a Lack of Faith?
This is an important question, and one that many believers wrestle with. While medication is not a cure-all for emotional or mental struggles, it can be a helpful tool—much like a cast for a broken arm. A cast doesn’t heal the bone, but it supports the healing process. In the same way, medication can help stabilize our minds so that deeper healing can take place.
We firmly believe that God is our ultimate healer. He can remove any burden, but sometimes, He allows certain struggles to remain for His greater purpose—just as Paul described his "thorn in the flesh" (2 Corinthians 12:7-9).
Taking medication, when needed and prescribed responsibly, is not a sign of weak faith. It can actually be an act of faith—trusting that God works through the wisdom He has given to medical professionals. Faith and medicine are not at odds; they can work together under God’s guidance.
If you’re unsure about what’s best for you, we encourage you to pray, seek wise counsel, and trust that God will lead you to the right decision.
Do You Take Insurance?
Unfortunately, Biblical Counseling is not a service covered by medical insurance. We do offer discounts, and oftentimes your church of membership may assist you to offset costs.
Is Everything We Talk About Confidential?
Absolutely! See our Privacy & Confidentiality page for specifics.
I Live Outside the Area—Can I Still Get Support?
Yes! All sessions are virtual via video or phone, so as long as you have a webcam and audio or a phone, we can connect no matter where you are.
My Relationship with God Is Weak… Will Biblical Counseling Just Make Me Feel Guilty?
Not at all! We believe in grace, not guilt trips. Jesus didn’t come to condemn, but to invite us into deeper relationship with Him. We know how hard life can be, and we’re not here to judge—we’re here to listen, encourage, and walk with you.
No matter where you are in your faith journey, you’re welcome here.
How Is Biblical Counseling Different from Traditional Counseling?
Our approach isn’t traditional mental health counseling—it’s more like Christian discipleship for real life struggles. Think of us as Christian life coaches or mentors who help believers navigate relationships, emotions, and the realities of living out faith in today’s world.
We don’t operate as a clinical mental health practice. Instead, we offer biblical guidance and practical support, working alongside many different churches and denominations. If you are experiencing a mental health issue that requires specialized treatment, we help facilitate referrals to trusted professionals such as doctors, psychiatrists, or therapists.
Ultimately, our mission is to provide a Christ-centered, compassionate space where you can find clarity, healing, and hope.
Do You Assign Homework in Between Counseling Sessions?
Oftentimes, Scripture reading and study is assigned to be completed between sessions to enrich your experience and growth during Biblical Counseling. In addition, there are a variety of recommended resources that also might be helpful. See our Recommended Resources page.
